    Are Our Children Our Gods?

Let's think about this for a minute.  My 15 month old had been waking up once or twice in the night to nurse.  I had been puting her needs in front of my own and getting up and nursing each night.  A friend of mine, who is mentoring me from church found out about this and basically had a fit.  She said, "What about discipline?"  I thought she was being harsh but after considering it, I knew she was right.   I decided to work on my 15 month old daughter's nightime nursing habits.  The first night I went to her and patted her after she awoke and told her to go back to sleep.  She protested but after about 30 minutes she was back asleep and stayed that way until 8:00am.  The second night, I did not even get up when I heard her.  I just waited for her to settle back down and she did within 5 minutes.  Last night, there was a little whimper but no real noise at all.  All my child needed was a little push in the right direction!  I was too afraid to give her any guidance in that department becuse I did not want to hurt her feelings.  How silly!  We are both sleeping better and I think it is best.  Why was I so hesitant to put my foot down with her?  I think I had become "obedient" to this child and it goes into many areas, not just sleep.  She also gets her way around the house quite often and I know it has to stop.  I know I am to obey my God and my husband but not my CHILD!  Goodness!
